Although the cemetery is located in Sweet Home, TX, it has a Hallettsville, TX address.

Directions: From Centerville take Highway 7 and go east 6.5 miles to FM 811. Turn right on FM 811 and go 5.3 miles to CR 124. Take a left on CR 124 and go 0.60 miles to CR 122. Take a left on CR 122 and go 4.10 miles to the end of the road. At this point there is a gate on the right side of the road with a cattle guard (this is a private roadway). Take this roadway and at 0.10 mile there is another gate, at 0.15 miles a house will be on the left and some out buildings will be on the right. As you get to the front of the house take about a 90 degree turn to the right and go across the field to about 400 or 500 feet to a fence. The graves are just over the fence. Russ Teer

WILSON CEMETERY is the final resting place for many African-Americans in the Middleton, Texas in Leon County. This burial ground is also known as WILSON COLORED CEMETERY. It is located off of Farm-To-Market Road 1119 in Middleton, Texas in Leon County. Take Farm-To-Market Road 1119, and travel east on Farm-To-Market Road 811 just over a 1 mile to County Road 112. Take a right on County Road 112 and travel 3.9 miles to a locked gate.

Location: about two tenths of a mile north of FM 1291, about three tenths of a mile west of the point where it crosses Cummins Creek, but ON PRIVATE PROPERTY and thus inaccessible to public traffic. Earliest known year of death: 1928 Racial mix: all black Number of known burials to date: 5

This cemetery is located outside of Speegleville Texas. It is an African American Cemetery that was started by property purchased and donated by former slaves. It is well maintained and has a Historical Marker. The cemetery is small and has good signage and is fenced. The earliest recorded grave is 1880 and is followed by many of the early settlers of this community. The cemetery is located adjacent to the church. Directions: From Waco Texas travel north on Hwy 6 then turn left onto Speegleville Road, drive until the first road joins in on the right side and take that road (aka Speegleville Road) proceed to the 2nd road on the left (Willow Grove) and turn left. Proceed down Willow Grove road thru several turns (3 -4 miles) until you reach the cemetery on the left side.

African American Cemetery. In Sublime turn off of Hwy. 90A onto FM 3283 and head South for approx. 6 miles. The cemetery is on the right hand side of the road. There is a fence seperating this section of the cemetery with the other section.

The Willing Workers Cemetery is in front of the New County Farm Cemetery.

This cemetery is fairly small and the graves are scattered throughout the property. An arched sign is located on brick columns between large cedar trees. Two sides are bordered by trees and the adjacent landowner stated that the original burials were done on the North side of the property past the trees. He doesn't believe there are any existing headstones in that area. There were no large stones, but rather a unique 2 rows of concrete curbing with metal crosses installed into the concrete and the names of the deceased written into the concrete. One row is about 30 feet long and contains 4 Knox family members and 3 Williams family members. A few trees were actually located among the graves and the property is well maintained. The front side is fenced, one side is bordered by a barbed wire fence from the next door landowner, and the other two sides are covered in trees. This rural cemetery shares a fence with Woodland Cemetery. From Hwy 77 South drive to Rosebud Texas and turn right on Hwy. 1963 you will see Woodland cemetery on your right, and the next gravel road is CR 3010. There is a highway marker sign that points to the cemetery location. When you turn right on CR 3010 you will dead end into the cemetery.

This cemetery is about 150 feet square in the southwest corner of the Williams 125 acre tract of land, which is almost entirely in, and is taxed as being in, Leon county. The cemetery is 10 feet south of the County Line sign.

On August 23, 1954, Chartie M. Williams petitioned the Colorado County Commissioners Court to designate five acres of his property for use as a cemetery, specifying in the petition that the cemetery was to be called the Chartie Williams Community Cemetery. The commissioners voted to accept the cemetery on September 13, 1954, and recorded the land as such in Colorado County Deed Records, Book 180, p. 146. Since that time, the cemetery has more frequently been called Williams Paradise Cemetery. 2. Dora Dervin, an aged black woman, provided a list from her memory of persons she believes to have been buried in the cemetery. Many of the burials have been confirmed through other sources. This cemetery is in terrible condition as low growing brush and trees obscure a lot of the headstones and markers. There are numerous unmarked graves or markers that are unreadable. This is a very old cemetery.

North on Hwy 111 at the Edna City limits.

Prince Hall Fraternal Cemetery and Wakefield Cemeteries are separately named and are directly next to each other. There is not a fence separating the two cemeteries. The only current delineation between the two are signs with arrows scattered down a north-south line in the middle (more or less) of the cemetery whose arrows point to the right for Wakefield and to the left for Prince Hall Fraternal. As you face the cemeteries from the road and are looking south, Wakefield is to your right and Prince Hall Fraternal is to your left. In 2012, planters will be placed to better separate the cemeteries. Wakefield Cemetery is the newer of the two cemeteries, with burials beginning in the late 1960s. It is currently in use.

The Walker Cemetery is an old, historically negro, cemetery located East of the City of Gonzales in the woods at the end of an old dirt road on the Emma Walker Estate, South of FM-532 approximately half of a mile South from the intersection of FM-532 and Gonzales County Road 350. As of 2013 this cemetery is in critically poor condition (far worse than when I first visited this cemetery in 2003) and is not currently being maintained. Their are numerous unmarked and poorly marked graves in this cemetery.

Historically black cemetery.

This cemetery is located in the James Walker League and is one of the earliest cemeteries in Washington County. In time it became neglected and it is said that some burials have been moved to Prairie Lea Cemetery. James Walker was a member of Austin's Old 300. It is believed that all the burials here are from the 1800s. There are two other Walker Cemeteries in Washington County, both African-American. They are both on Findagrave.

This cemetery is located on the Eastern city limits of the City of Waelder, South of US Highway 90 and 75 feet North of the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way, just to the West of the intersection of US Highway 90 and Farm-to-Market Highway 1680. In 1874 the Galveston Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad set aside two acres on the north side of the railroad right-of-way just to the west of the section house to be used as a negro cemetery. Much later the City of Waelder purchased the tract where the section house once stood from the Texas and New Orleans Railroad to add additional area to the cemetery. This cemetery is located on the opposite end of town from the (white) Waelder Cemetery. There are a number of unidentifiable graves in this cemetery. This cemetery inventory is complete as of August 22, 2013.

African American cemetery located at the intersection of FM 968 and I-20.

The Sweet Home Cemetery is located on private farm land, near County Road 378, northeast of Sweet Home, Texas. It is NOT located at the end of county road 385, as many maps indicate. To get to the Sweet Home Cemetery, one first travels to Sweet Home on County Road 531. In Sweet Home, turn northeast on County Road 378. The turn onto County Road 378 is one house away from the Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Travel northeast on County Road 378 until you pass the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church on the right. At the church, the road forks. Take the right fork, and continue past a large red barn and a light colored brick house, both on the right. From the brick house, go about ¼ mile farther, and then turn right at an unmarked wire gate. When you pass through the wire gate, you are entering private property. The owner has given people permission to go to the cemetery. Please keep the owner favorable toward us by following the gate rule for rural America: When you pass through a gate, leave it the way you found it. If you found the gate open, leave it open. If you found the gate closed, immediately close it behind you before leaving the gate. This is very important. After passing through the wire gate, you will be traveling on a barely visible two track road. This road leads straight through a metal gate (same gate rule), and then continues straight to the entrance to the cemetery. The cemetery is about ¼ mile from the wire gate at County Road 378. The cemetery is surrounded by a chain link fence.

Directions: Located 2 tenths of a mile south of the intersection of FM 977 & FM 1119 on the west side of FM 1119. There is a state highway cemetry sign at this point. Russ Teer

5 miles north on FM 304, turn right, go 1 mile, turn right through gap on H.H. Gains place on Buck Creek. African American

This cemetery was also referred to as the "Glidden Cemetery", from information gleaned on death certificates from those buried here.

From Giddings, US 290 east, go 6 miles, turn left on FM180, go 12 miles, church and cemetery on left. Saint Mary's Baptist Church and Cemetery are in Lee County, although the address is Fayette County.

There are four separate cemeteries in the area just north of Runge. This one is a thin strip of land between the Catholic Cemetery and the Latino Cemetery. The cemetery has few markers compared to the evidence of graves.

Directions: From the Long Lake junction take Hwy 84 West 9 miles to Co Road 489 East and go 4.6 miles. Take a left on Co. Rd. 240 for 1.3 miles. The Cemetery is on the left inside chain link fence. From Fairfield take Hwy 84 East about 11 miles to Co. Road 489 East and go 4.6 miles. Take a left on Co. Rd. 240 for 1.3 miles. The Cemetery is on the left inside chain link fence. This cemetery is the burial ground for the residents of Bethel, an African American community located north of Butler.

African American cemetery.

This African American cemetery is located on the side of Hwy 36. The property is not fenced and there is no signage. There is some pipe curbing around some graves and the grounds are well maintained. The graves are scattered and there are trees and plants located among the graves. There is room for future graves.In 2020 there were 404 documented burials.

Ross Cemetery is located just east of Settler's Field and just south of Pecan Grove Cemetery. The three cemeteries share common borders. Access to Ross Cemetery is off of Old Mill Road. A chain link fence surrounds the cemetery accept where it shares a border with Settler's Field and Pecan Grove - the fence at the borders is a tall, black wrought iron fence).

These cemeteries are separately named and are directly next to each other. There is not a fence or delineation between the two cemeteries but they are separate. There are signs scattered down a north-south line in the middle (more or less) of the cemetery that point one way for Wakefield and one way for Fraternal. As you face the cemeteries from the road and are looking south, Wakefield is to your right and Fraternal is to your left. Wakefield is listed separately on Findagrave.

Highway 1997 & Van Zandt Powder Mill Cemetery is a large cemetery, approximately 10 acres. Transcription of the official Texas Historical Commission marker: Old Power Mill Cemetery Located on part of a site once occupied by a Confederate gun powder factory, this cemetery originated with the burial of slaves on the powder mill acreage. After the factory was destroyed in 1865 with the collapse of the Confederacy, the acreage fell into private ownership. One of the landowners, mortician M.M. Rains, began recording the burials here in 1880; however, the earliest known marked grave, that of Millie Abner, is dated 1878. Her husband, David Abner, a former Harrison County treasurer and member of the 14th Texas Legislature, is also buried here. Old Powder Mill Cemetery is important to the history of Harrison County as the burial ground of many of the leaders of Marshall's black community who played important roles in local religious, social, business, and political affairs. Among those interred here are educators H.B. Pemberton, J.R.E. Lee, and Frederick William Gross; war veterans; businessmen and women; and professionals. Also located in Old Powder Mill Cemetery are the graves of many former members and founders of the Colored (now Bethesda) Baptist Church, including William Massey, a Confederate soldier who served as first pastor. This African-American cemetery is located north of Palestine, east of State Highway 155 and south of FM 321.

Old Slave Cemetery is on private property and is not easily accessed; there is no road to it. Looking for contact number. Believed to be the final resting place of hundreds of souls, only a few dozen identifiable markers remain. There are many large pieces of sandstone and many rock-lined cairns in this cemetery. African American Cemetery. From the Leon Co. Cemetery Book: From Highway 79 in Oakwood take Holly Street north pass the school for a distance of 0.3 miles and it will lead you directly into the cemetery. Adjoins the White Cemetery.

Oakland Hill Cemetery is located about 1.8 miles west of FM 2144 and about .4 miles north of the point at which the West Navidad River joins the East Navidad River, it is reachable only by an unnamed and unpaved road. It is one of the African American Cemeteries of Colorado County, Texas. Earliest known year of death is 1905.

Easiest directions: Northeast on 813. When 813 makes right angle turn to SE, continue NE on Neck Rd. When Neck Rd. makes right angle turn to NW, cemetery is on right. Graves are randomly spread over several acres.

This cemetery is located near the town of Mont, Texas, and should not be confused with the cemetery of the same name located at Mount Olive, Texas. Also known as the Burt Cemetery, or the Mustang Cemetery, or Rocky Creek Baptist Cemetery The oldest marker in this cemetery is for John W. Moores who died August 1, 1859. There are both white and African-Americans buried in this cemetery. The black section is up the hill toward the back fence and the markers are not as old as in the white section. It's possible that the white portion of the cemetery was once called the Burt Cemetery and the black part the Mount Olive Cemetery. There are thirty marked graves and at least twenty others that are not marked. Go south from Hallettsville on FM 318, turn left at the Mont Store, turn right at the first road, cross the bridge and the cemetery is at the first gate to the right and up on the hill.

Private land of Myers Family, Oakwood, Texas.

From Downtown Moody Texas turn west on Hwy 107 and continue until you see a dirt triangle to the left of the highway. This is the location of part of the cemetery. There is no sign, fence or other markings. Descriptions: This rural cemetery is located on 2 sides of a county road. There are visible headstones on each side of the road, with the older stones located on the farthest side. It is maintained and the older section has room for expansion.

This is a small unfenced cemetery located on Berger Rd. off of F.M. 622. It is mainly used by the African American population in the area. This cemetery and the Mission Valley Community Cemetery are sometimes confused with each other.

About 1.3 miles directly west of FM 109 and half a mile directly south of Zimmerscheidt Road.

The cemetery is about 3 miles southwest of Elgin, Bastrop, Texas, on Farm to Market Road Road (FM) 1704 . The cemetery is about 200 feet wide along the FM 1704 frontage and 100 feet deep along the Beaver Road frontage. It is enclosed by a fence. Another cemetery, the Perryville Cemetery, is adjacent to the east.

Located on Texas State Highway 294, 10 mile northwest of Elkhart, southwest of Palestine, near Tucker, just about a mile from Highway 84. Magnolia is an old cemetery with separate burial sections for African-Americans and whites.

Cemetery is located on the south side of Brune's Mill Road, west of the FM 109 intersection.

This cemetery is located away from the road. There is no visible sign or fence to indicate a cemetery property. It is maintained with graves scattered through-out this sprawling cemetery. Directions: From Waco Texas travel South on Hwy 77 for 10.7 miles until you reach FM 423 (Farney RD) and turn left. Drive 1.6 miles and turn on Craft Road. You will turn into the cemetery on the left side of the road.

When you drive up to this cemetery you will be amazed at the sheer size of the property. It sprawls across many acres of land. As you approach the arched sign over the driveway gate you will notice many graves outside the fenced area. After calling several funeral homes I was unable to determine the purpose of this location. It appears the cemetery has been expanded several times due to two entrance gates with names attached. The first gate you drive through was erected in 2006 and contains the Texas State Flower : The Bluebonnet" . The next gate has decorative brick work with the name attached to the bricks. There is beautiful landscaping across this entire property. With redwood bridges built to walk over drainage areas. The tree are many varieties, but when I visited the redwoods were in full bloom and gorgeous. Patches of live flowers, irises, lilies and other varieties, are also found on this land. There is a large drainage ditch that runs through the grounds and it also in manicured and landscaped. A gazebo is located adjacent to the brick gate sign. Graves are scattered in every direction and there is plenty of room for future burials. A Historical Marker and a Kiosk is located on the cemetery. There is a table with benches located by a gate, as well as benches in other locations. Two flagpoles are located in Clover Hill Cemetery which is a tranquil and lovely place to visit with its rolling grass lawns it mimics a country club. The African American section of this cemetery is located across the road from the front gate, but is not fenced. Understandably some burial locations may be incorrect since a death certificate would state Lott Colored Cemetery. PLEASE NOTE: Do not confuse this cemetery with the Lott African American Cemetery located at 303 CR 473,Lott,Falls County, Texas USA, Postal Code: 76656 From Lott Texas turn west on Hwy 320 drive to Waco Street and turn right. This road will dead end into Clover Hill Cemetery.

This cemetery has good signage and is fenced. The graves are scattered over the large property and the grounds are well maintained. There is a flag pole, trees, and many interesting headstones.

It is located on FM 1116 just over 3.1 miles along FM 1116 from the intersection of FM 1116 and TX 97 and about 5.5 miles in a straight line SSW of the Gonzales County Courthouse. There is a gated drive at the highway with the cemetery name over drive. The cemetery itself is located about 0.2 miles down a dirt road off the highway. The cemetery appears to be only occasionally maintained and those who have mobility issues may have difficulty getting around.

Directions: From Palestine, take U.S. Hwy. 287 north. Turn left (south) on County Road 2601; then left again on County Road 2603 to the cemetery at the end of the road.
